It shall be the duty of the Board to promote and further the status, well being and quality of life of residents of the City and to promote and further the preservation of arts and humanities in the community; to collect, study and evaluate information thereon; and to otherwise promote and focus the public interest and involvement in accomplishing the goals of the Board. The Board shall encourage the development of art, literature, ballets, theatricals, musicals, choral societies, children’s art, events, and other arts and humanities events in the City. The Board shall hold public meetings, collect information and recommendations, and make reports and recommendations from time to time to the Council, Administration and other interested community organizations. The Board shall study the availability of facilities of all kinds for the furtherance of arts and humanities in the community, publicly and privately owned, and shall recommend methods for coordinating activities in such facilities. The Board shall also encourage individual creativity through recognition of individual creative achievements and by making recommendations on the use of facilities and the furnishing of supplies by public and private entities. The Board shall communicate with all existing nonprofit organizations interested in arts and humanities in the City in order to coordinate the work of the Board with work that is being done within the community.
