234.02 DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
   (a)   The Director of Economic Development shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of a majority of the members elected to Council. The Director shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and shall be the executive head of the Department of Economic Development under the direction of the Mayor.
   (b)   The Director of Economic Development shall supervise and control all personnel in the Department of Economic Development. The Director shall be responsible for, manage, implement and coordinate all Economic Development programs, functions, events and policies for the City of Strongsville. These may include, but not be limited to: providing a business-friendly environment for those companies currently doing business in Strongsville and for prospective businesses seeking to locate here; supporting programs that help retain and expand businesses within the City; assisting in the review and approval phases of development and expansion projects; working closely with the Chamber of Commerce and other civic organizations to support activities of Strongsville’s commercial and industrial sectors; creating networking opportunities among Strongsville’s businesses; and researching, initiating and coordinating efforts to maximize the City’s opportunities to receive available State and Federal grants. The Director of Economic Development shall make recommendations for establishment of policies, procedures and standards for the development of the aforementioned City’s Economic Development programs, functions and events, subject to the approval of the Mayor; and shall perform such other duties as may be authorized or requested by the Mayor or by ordinance of Council.
