262.02 DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY.
   (a)   The Director shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of a majority of the members elected to Council. The Director shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and shall be in charge of all employees of the Department of Communication and Technology.
 
   (b)   The Director shall be responsible for establishing and maintaining the City’s communications and technology systems, including but not limited to data networks for intranet, internet, e-mail, servers, workstations, and web hosting; voice communications, including phone systems, voice mail and 911; City government video television including production, distribution and teleconferencing; and wireless communications for dispatch center, radio and cellular communications. The Director shall also serve as the City’s communication and technology liaison and oversee monitoring of fire, security, traffic control and related notification systems. The Director shall make recommendations and establish policies, procedures and standards for the development of the City’s communications and technological operations, subject to approval of the Mayor; and shall perform such other duties as may be authorized by the Mayor and/or ordinance of Council.
