In all motor vehicle use areas, joints in Portland cement concrete shall be provided in accordance with construction standards and practices and subject to the following requirements:
(a) Isolation joints shall be required where concrete abuts any structure, including, but not limited to, foundations, garage floors, stoops and paved streets.
(b) In nonresidential districts, joints shall be constructed in accordance with the detailed specifications in Appendix B hereto, provided that contraction joints shall be located at intervals not to exceed a distance in feet equal to the number determined by multiplying the numeral in the applicable required uniform thickness times two.
In Residential Districts, contraction joints shall be constructed at a minimum depth of one-quarter the thickness of the slab and shall be located at intervals not to exceed ten feet.
