(a) No railroad company or engineer or conductor employed by such company shall operate or cause to be operated any locomotive at a rate of speed greater than thirty-five miles per hour across any public grade crossing within the corporate limits.

(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. Punishment shall be a provided in Section 698.02.
