The director of works shall place and maintain painted lines or marks on the street to designate the parking space for which the meter is to be used and each vehicle parked alongside of or adjacent to any parking meter shall park within the lines or marks established. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle across any line or mark, or to park any vehicle in a way that it shall not be within the area designated by the lines or marks.
