§ 75.28 GRADE CROSSING SIGNS.
   (A)   For the protection of life and property, all steam railroads and electric interurban companies are required to erect and maintain suitable signs to be approved by the director of works visible by day and by night and to place suitable markings at all grade crossings of steam railroads and electric interurban roads not protected by gates or other suitable mechanical warning devices over which trains or cars are regularly operated and to require all vehicles to come to a full stop before entering grade crossings. It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to cross any grade crossing marked by a suitable stop sign or marking without first bringing the vehicle to a full stop.
   (B)   All railroad or railway companies or corporations operating or propelling freight or passenger cars by steam or other power along or upon the public ways or streets of the city, not included in division (A), shall, at their own cost, cause to be erected and maintained at all the public ways or street crossings of their respective lines of railroad or railway tracks within the city limits standard railroad crossing signs visible by day and by night, which signs are to be approved by the director of public works.
