Before any building or any part of any building may be used for housing more than two occupants as a boarding house or rooming house, such facility must meet the following requirements.
(A) Any room to be occupied by one person shall have a minimum of 70 square feet of floor space and an additional 50 square feet of floor space for each additional person that will occupy the same room.
(B) The facilities must provide at least one bathroom for each four sleeping rooms. The bathroom must contain at least a bath tub or shower and a wash basin both of which must provide hot and cold running water. Each bathroom must have at least 30 square feet of floor space, with no dimension being less than four feet.
(C) Each room occupied for sleeping purposes shall have at least one window opening directly to the outdoors which shall be of such size that its area is at least 8% of the floor area in such room.
(D) The maximum distance of travel to reach an exit from any sleeping facility shall not exceed 30 feet.
(E) Each room shall have a ceiling at least seven feet high and each such room must have one working smoke detector.
(F) All space devoted to housing occupants as a rooming house or boarding house must meet all of the requirements in any Housing Code adopted by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the city.
