(a) (1) Every motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, shall be equipped with at least two headlights with at least one near each side of the front of the motor vehicle.
(2) Every motorcycle shall be equipped with at least one and not more than two headlights.

(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree on a first offense; on a second offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree; on each subsequent offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree.
