1550.10 USE OF COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS FOR RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES; SMOKE DETECTORS IN BASEMENTS.
   (a)   No person shall reside in any part of any retail or commercial establishment, except in an apartment built, designed and intended to be used as a dwelling unit adjacent to or above any such establishment, but in no case shall living or sleeping be permitted in a basement.
   (b)   The basements of all commercial, mercantile or business occupancies shall have at least one local smoke detector. The smoke detector(s) shall be installed and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Battery-powered smoke detectors, unless otherwise prohibited, shall be permitted.
