(a) Employees may use sick leave upon approval of the Mayor, for absence due to personal illness, pregnancy, injury, exposure to contagious disease which could be communicated to other employees, and for illness, injury or death in the employee's immediate family.

(b) "Immediate family" includes spouse, children, grandchildren, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, parents-in-law, son/daughter-in-law and sister/brother-in-law.
