(a) The Director of Law shall perform the following duties:
(1) Serve as legal advisor to the Mayor, Council, the administrative departments and the offices, boards and commissions established by the Charter, or by ordinance of Council, in connection with municipal affairs.
(2) Subject to direction of the Mayor, represent the City in all court proceedings and before administrative boards.
(3) Prepare or approve legislation as requested by Council or Council committee and draft such proposed legislation as is requested by the Mayor, or head of a department, board or commission for presentation to Council.
(4) Render an opinion upon any municipal legal matter or question submitted by the legislative or administrative branch of the City government.
(5) Prepare or approve all contracts and instruments to which the City is a party and approve, as to form, all bonds required to be submitted to the City.
(6) Serve as prosecutor in the criminal branch of the South Euclid Municipal Court.
(7) Adjust, compromise, settle or submit to arbitration any action or cause of action, claim demand or dispute, and matters in favor of or against the City, subject only to consent of Council as to the amount thereof.
(8) Report the outcome of litigation as it is determined by the tribunal having jurisdiction thereof and make such recommendations as to further action to be taken thereon as he may deem just and proper considering the best interest of the City.
(b) The Law Director shall not serve as legal advisor and attorney to the South Euclid - Lyndhurst Board of Education.
