1484.09 CHECKING FOR GAS LEAKS GENERALLY.

No matches, candles, flame or other sources of ignition shall be employed to check for gas leakage from meters, piping or appliances. Checking for gas leakage with soap and water solution is recommended. Artificial illumination used in connection with a search for gas leakage shall be restricted to electric hand safety flash lights, fixed electric lights controlled only by switches remote from the area of the leakage; or approved safety lamps.
