A. There is hereby created a Board of Fire and Police Commissioners (hereafter "Board") consisting of three (3) members whose terms of office shall be three (3) years until their respective successors are appointed and have qualified; except, that the term of the first three (3) members appointed shall be: one of the members shall be appointed to serve until the end of the then current Municipal fiscal year, another to serve until the end of the Municipal fiscal year next ensuing and the third to serve until the end of the Municipal fiscal year second next ensuing. The Board members shall elect a chairman to serve during each Municipal fiscal year.
B. Members of the Board shall be appointed by the Village President with the consent of the Board of Trustees; provided, that no appointment shall be made by the President within thirty (30) days before the expiration of his term of office. Vacancies on the Board shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment of the member whose office is vacant. (Ord. 85-389, 3-12-85)
