8-2-1: PERMIT REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Permit Required: Before proceeding with the demolition of any building or structure, a permit for demolition shall first be obtained from the Chief Building Official by the owner of the building or his agent, and it shall be unlawful to proceed with the demolition of any building or structure or any structural part thereof within the Village unless a permit required by this subsection shall first have been obtained.
   B.   Application For Permit: An application for a permit required by this section shall state the location of the building to be demolished and shall also describe the building.
   C.   Permit Fees: The fees for a permit required by this section shall be as provided in section 8-1A-9 of this title.
   D.   Bond And Insurance: Application for a permit required by this section shall be accompanied by a certificate of insurance as required by subsection 8-2-6E of this chapter and a wrecking bond to the Village in the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) conditioned upon the faithful observance of all the provisions of this chapter and other ordinances of the Village relevant to the demolition, tearing down of the building, the transportation of material obtained therefrom, the restoration and leveling the premises upon which the demolition takes place and the removal of other hazards occasioned by the demolition of the building, and shall bind the surety for a period of one year from the date demolition is completed or until a new structure occupies the entire site, whichever occurs first.
The Village Board shall have the discretion to allow a person who is wrecking or tearing down any building or structure on premises owned by the applicant for the permit to carry on the work without a wrecking bond. (Ord. 93-725, 12-14-1993; amd. Ord. 20-1982, 8-25-2020)
