1-5-4: SOCIAL SECURITY COVERAGE:
   A.   Participation In Social Security System: It is hereby declared to be the policy and purpose of the governing body of the village to extend to the eligible employees thereof, effective as of April 1, 1978, the benefits of the federal old age, survivors and disability insurance provisions of the federal social security act and amendments thereto 1 . In pursuance of said policy, and for that purpose, the village president shall take such action with the social security unit of the state employee's retirement system as may be required by applicable state and federal laws or regulations.
   B.   Agreement With State: The village president is hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement with the social security unit of the state employee's retirement system to secure coverage of eligible employees as provided in subsection A of this section.
   C.   Withholdings: Withholdings from salaries or wages of employees for the purpose provided in subsection A of this section are hereby authorized to be made in the amounts and at such times as may be required by applicable state and federal laws or regulations and shall be paid over to the social security unit in such amounts and at such times as are designated by state laws or regulations.
   D.   Employer Contributions And Administrative Costs: Employer contributions and administrative expenses shall be paid to the social security unit in accordance with applicable state laws and regulations from amounts appropriated for such purposes.
   E.   Records And Reports: The village clerk shall maintain such records and submit such reports as may be required by applicable state and federal laws or regulations. (Ord. 78-272, 4-25-1978)
