(A) It shall be unlawful for any person, adult or infant, to fire within the limits of the city any firearm of any kind or character for any purpose whatsoever except in the enforcement of law, provided that the use of firearms in the destruction of rodents, pigeons, squirrels or similar animals or birds or reptiles that are considered to be a menace to public health or property may be permitted by special permission of the Mayor and prior notice to the City Council. It shall be further unlawful for any person to use any slingshot or other instrument for the purpose of throwing stones, shot or other hurtful missiles within the city limits.
(B) The City Council provides the use of firearms and bows shall be permitted on areas in the corporate boundary of the city that exceed ten acres in size for purposes of hunting and firearms training. The City Council requires that any person discharging a firearm shall comply with all other provisions for the use of the firearm, including all requirements of the governments of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the United States of America. The City Council provides this section does not enable any person who otherwise is unable to possess a firearm to possess same. The City Council provides that any person who endangers person or property for the improper use of a firearm shall have no defense from prosecution criminally or civilly on the basis of this section.
(C) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or furnish any minor or infant with any sling or slingshot or other instrument for the purpose of throwing stones, shot or other hurtful missiles within the city limits, or to furnish any minor or infant with any firearm of any kind or character for the purpose of use within the city limits or to furnish any minor or infant with ammunition for said firearms, sling, slingshot or other instrument.
(D) Any firearm of any kind or character or any sling, slingshot or other instrument for the purpose of throwing stones, shot or other hurtful missiles, which may be involved or used in violating any of the provisions of this section shall be subject to confiscation, in addition to the fine provided for in section.
