On or before July 1 of each year, every owner of an animal four months old or over shall have it vaccinated against rabies. The owner of an animal becoming four months of age shall have such animal vaccinated by the fourteenth day after the date the animal attains this age or by July 1, whichever comes first. Such vaccination shall be in accordance with the vaccination requirements prescribed by the state’s Board of Health in all respects, except the requirement that the vaccination be at six months of age. Vaccination each year is not necessary if a vaccine approved by the Board for longer periods is used. All such vaccinations shall be performed by a licensed veterinarian or other qualified person.
