13-1-3: OFFICIAL ZONING MAP:
   A.   Incorporated By Reference: The official zoning map, and all notations, references, and other information shown on the map are incorporated by reference and made a part of this title.
   B.   Identification: The official zoning map shall be identified by the signature of the mayor attested by the city finance officer, and bearing the seal of the city under the following words: "This is to certify that this is the Official Zoning Map referred to in Section 3 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Shelby, Montana", together with the date of the adoption of the ordinance codified in this title.
   C.   Changes: If, in accordance with the provisions of this title and Montana Code Annotated sections 76-2-301 through 76-2-328, changes are made in district boundaries or other matter portrayed on the official zoning map, such changes shall be entered on the official zoning map promptly after the amendment has been approved by the city council. The changes shall be delineated in numerical order with the date of each change noted adjacent to the appropriate number. The detailed description of the change will be noted in the city official minutes. No amendment to this title which involves matter portrayed on the official zoning map shall become effective until after such change and entry has been noted on said map.
   D.   Changes Made In Conformity With Procedure; Unauthorized Change: No changes of any nature shall be made on the official zoning map or matter shown thereon except in conformity with the procedures set forth in this title. Any unauthorized change of whatever kind by any person or persons shall be considered a violation of this title and punishable as provided under section 13-12-10 of this title.
   E.   Located In Office Of City Finance Officer; Publication: The official zoning map shall be located in the office of the city finance officer and shall be the final authority as to the current zoning status of the land, water areas, buildings, and other structures in the city. Updated copies of the official zoning map will be published periodically; however, their accuracy is not guaranteed.
   F.   New Official Zoning Map: In the event that the official zoning map becomes damaged, destroyed, lost, or difficult to interpret because of the nature or number of changes and additions, the city council may, by resolution, adopt a new official zoning map which shall supersede the prior official zoning map. The new official zoning map may correct drafting or other errors or omissions in the prior official zoning map, but no such correction shall have the effect of amending the original official zoning map and shall be identified by the signature of the mayor attested by the city finance officer, and bearing the seal of the city under the following words:
This is the Official Zoning Map adopted (date of adoption of map being replaced) as part of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Shelby, Montana.
Unless the prior official zoning map has been lost, or has been totally destroyed, the prior map or any significant parts thereof remaining, shall be preserved, together with all available records pertaining to its adoption or amendment. (1975 Code § 17.04.030)
