(a) No person or business consisting of one or more persons shall engage in the business of installing and/or repairing electrical wiring until that person or business has registered to do so with the Director of Finance and Public Record, upon the order of the Mayor. The fee for the registration will be $50 for the first year and $25 each for a renewal each year afterwards. Each business need only register once each year, regardless of the number of persons employed by the business.
(b) Application for the registration shall be made on a blank form prescribed and provided by the Building and Zoning Inspector.
(c) No registration shall be issued to any person or business consisting of one or more persons unless that person, or each person to be employed by that business to install or repair electrical wiring, holds a valid and unexpired qualification certificate (electrical contractor), as issued by the Ohio Construction Industry Examining Board, or has taken and passed an open book test based upon the latest edition of the National Electrical Code. A passing grade shall be no less than 75%. Persons who fail to pass the examination may request retesting on the next available testing date no earlier than 30 days from the date of the most current test.
