The following rules and regulations shall be enforced and shall be complied with, in addition to the provisions of the National Electrical Code:
(a) Service entrance cables. A weatherhead shall be made a part of or attached to all service entrance cables. In masonry and/or metallic siding, the service entrance cables shall be installed in rigid galvanized I.M.C. or Schedule 40 plastic conduit with watertight fittings from service drop to service equipment.
(b) Service entrance conductors.
(1) In single-family dwellings of masonry and/or metallic siding, or where masonry such as face brick or metallic siding has been added, service entrance conductors shall be installed in rigid galvanized I.M.C. or Schedule 40 plastic conduit with watertight fittings from service drop to service equipment.
(2) Means shall be provided to disconnect all service entrance conductors and such means shall be installed either inside or outside of the structure at a readily accessible location nearest the point of entrance of the service conductor. In no case shall the means of disconnection be located more than 15 feet inside the structure.
(c) Underground service entrance conductors.
(1) Underground service entrance conductors shall be located not less than five feet, lateral measurement, from water, gas and sewer lines. Variations may be approved, provided that wire is properly protected from physical damage, i.e., installed in I.M.C. or galvanized rigid conduit.
(2) This rule shall apply for both load and line side of a meter. Underground services must be accurately located on a final drawing, and this drawing is to be placed on file at the Utilities Office for future reference. A lateral tolerance of 40 inches will be allowed.
(d) Interior wiring. In all newly constructed or rewired buildings in the fire district, as well as in all newly constructed or rewired commercial and industrial buildings, whether located in the fire district or elsewhere, all interior wiring shall be installed in metallic raceways. If the wire is properly protected from physical damage, the service entrance may be installed in rigid galvanized I.M.C. or Schedule 40 plastic conduit with watertight fittings from service drop to service equipment.
(e) Inspections.
(1) The city has the right to inspect the installation of all electrical apparatus in accordance with the following schedule:
A. Rough in;
B. Cover-up inspection (if possible, all circuits should be carried to the load center or numbered so that outlets can be counted at the time of first inspection); and
C. Final inspection (all fixtures to be in place; joints taped with rubber and friction tape or approved plastic tape and job complete).
(2) For underground service, inspection is to be made by personnel of the Division of Electricity and Communications prior to covering. Turn-on is dependent upon approval.
