719.04 DUTIES OF SECONDHAND AND PRECIOUS METAL DEALERS.
All secondhand and precious metal dealers shall:
(a) Post in a conspicuous place in his shop or other place of business a sign having his name and occupation legibly inscribed thereon;
(b) Prepare on forms, provided by the Chief of Police, accurate daily transaction records containing a description of the articles purchased or sold, the name, description and residence of the person from whom the items were purchased and received and the date and hour when such purchase or exchange was made. In addition, the form shall include any names, dates, words, numbers or initials inscribed upon the property;
(c) Require valid identification from all persons from whom the secondhand and precious metal dealer purchases or receives any secondhand articles;
(d) Demand and examine the driver's license or identification card plus one additional type of card typically used for identification purposes of the individual with whom the secondhand or precious metal dealer engages in any business transactions; and
(e) Return the completed forms to the Chief of Police before 10:01 a.m. of the next business day after the transaction. (Ord. 81-64. Passed 10-13-81.)
