531.031 EMERGENCY BUILDING ACCESS.
   (a)    When a property is protected by an automatic alarm or fire prevention system, and access to or within any given commercial area is unduly difficult because of secured openings, and where an immediate access would be necessary for lifesaving or fire fighting purposes, the Fire Chief and/or Safety Director may require a key box to be installed in a location approved by such official or officials.
   (b)    The key box shall be a miniature safe and shall be of a type approved by the Fire Department and/or Safety Director.
   (c)    The key box shall contain clearly labeled keys to locked points of ingress or egress for both interior and exterior commercial building areas. The key box shall further contain clearly labeled keys to locked mechanical rooms, locked electrical rooms, elevator controls and other areas as may be deemed necessary by the Fire Chief and/or Safety Director.
