(a) Deposit of Stolen Property. No member of the Division of Police shall neglect or refuse to deposit property taken or found by him in possession of a person arrested. Any violation of this section shall be grounds for disciplinary action, suspension or removal. A conviction for violation of this section shall automatically vacate the office of the person convicted.
(b) Prohibition. Whoever violates this section shall be fined not less than twice the value of any property not deposited as provided by such section, but not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
