Municipal police officers shall have the powers conferred by law upon police officers in all Municipalities of the State, and such other powers, not inconsistent with the nature of their office, as are conferred by ordinance. It shall be the duty of the members of the Division to see to the enforcement of all of the ordinances of the Municipality as well as all statutes applicable therein; and to preserve order and prevent infractions of the law and arrest violators thereof.
