The members of the Retirement Committee shall be selected and shall have such terms of office, and vacancies shall be filled, as provided in the applicable state statutes, as now existing or hereafter amended. The four members of the Retirement Committee to be selected by the active paid firefighters (excluding firefighters identified in Neb. RS 16-1039), shall be active members of the city’s Fire Department or members of the general public. One of the two members to be designated by the City Council shall be the Mayor, or such other member of the City Council as the City Council shall by resolution designate, and the other member shall be the City Manager. The members of the Committee who are not participants in the Firefighters’ Retirement System shall have a general knowledge of retirement plans.
