There hereby is established, and the city shall keep and maintain, a Firefighters’ Retirement System Fund for the purpose of investing payroll deductions and city contributions to the Firefighters’ Retirement System. The Retirement Committee shall contract on behalf of the city for investment of the funds in such fund in accordance with the applicable state statutes, as now existing or hereafter amended.
