§ 2-2-8 EMERGENCY DESTRUCTION OF ANIMAL.
   (A)   Any animal which is found at large in the city and is behaving in such a manner as to constitute an immediate threat to the safety of a human being may be immediately destroyed by an animal control officer.
   (B)   Any animal which is found at large in the city and is so sick or injured that, in the judgment of an animal control officer, human compassion requires that the suffering be promptly ended, may be destroyed by an animal control officer. Before such animal is destroyed, the animal control officer shall make a reasonable effort to identify and notify the owner of the animal.
   (C)   The destruction of an animal pursuant to this section shall be accomplished in such a manner as to cause the animal a minimum of pain and suffering. Prudent use of firearms to accomplish the destruction of an animal pursuant to the authority of this section shall not be considered a violation of the ordinances of the city.
