It shall be the duty of the City Manager at the expense of the city to furnish and equip the firefighters of the city with waterproof coats, helmets, and such other usual and necessary paraphernalia for their wear and use in putting out or fighting fire in the city. Such equipment shall be and remain the property of the city for immediate use in case of fire, and be under the care and control of the Fire Chief.
