§ 6-2-20 SAME; DUTIES; GENERAL.
   The primary duties of the City Attorney shall be to act as legal advisor of the City Council, the City Manager, the heads of all administrative departments, and all officers of the city; to draw such ordinances, contracts, and other writings as may be required in the administration of the affairs of the city; to examine all bonds, contracts, and documents on which the City Council will be required to act and to advise whether or not the document is in legal and proper form; to commence, prosecute, and defend all civil suits and actions necessary to be commenced, prosecuted, and defended on behalf of the city or that may be ordered by the City Council or City Manager; to attend the meetings of the City Council, unless excused by the City Manager; and to supervise the work of and on occasion, to assist the deputy city attorneys. The City Attorney shall be responsible for the performance of all duties required by statute to be performed by the City Attorney.
