DRAFT HOOD or DRAFT DIVERTER. A device attached to or made a part of the vent outlet from an appliance, and designed by the manufacturer of the appliance to:
(1) Ensure the ready escape of the products of combustion, in the event of no draft, backdraft, or stoppage in the vent beyond the draft hood;
(2) Prevent a backdraft from entering the appliance; and
(3) Neutralize the effect of stack action of the flue upon the operation of the appliance. “Automatic draft regulator” is a device attached to or made a part of the vent outlet from an appliance, and designed to govern the effect of stack action of the flue upon the operation of the appliance.
