9-4-7: SANITARY SEWERS 1 :
Sanitary sewers serving all lots shall be provided. They shall have sufficient capacity to serve the needs of the areas being developed and of all adjacent areas that would logically be served by extensions of such sewers. They shall be located and constructed so as to form part of an integrated system.
   A.   Material: Sewers shall be constructed using current state of Illinois and village standards and requirements. Any substitutions shall be approved by the village engineer prior to approving the plans.
   B.   Minimum Size: Sewer mains, eight inches (8"); sewer service lines, four inches (4") for single-family residential, six inches (6") for all others.
   C.   Depth: Sanitary sewers shall be installed at such depth as to give not less than five feet (5') of cover. They shall be deep enough to provide gravity drainage from basements where practicable. (Ord., 12-27-2007)
   D.   Location: Sanitary sewers shall normally be located at or near the center of a traffic lane. At the time the main line sewer is laid, the sewer service lines shall be installed to serve all lots in the subdivision. Sewer service lines shall be extended three feet (3') beyond the property line and shall normally be located near the middle/center of the lot's front width, and maintain an eighteen inch (18") vertical and ten foot (10') horizontal separation from the water service line. They shall be laid at a minimum of one percent (1%), but not more than nine percent (9%), slope. All sanitary sewers shall conform to the specifications and requirements of the village and shall extend to the farthest extent of the development plat or public right of way.
   E.   Backflow Prevention Valves: Existing topographical features may require the need for backflow prevention valves. At the time of preliminary plat submittal, the village engineer will determine whether backflow prevention valves shall be required. If required, a backflow preventer valve shall be installed on sanitary sewer service lines for each lot by a properly licensed plumbing contractor. A cleanout shall be installed on the street side of the valve. Also, no driveway shall be built over the sewer service line. (Ord., 12-27-2007; amd. 2009 Code)
   F.   Manholes: Manholes shall be of standard design. They shall be spaced not more than four hundred feet (400') apart.
   G.   Lift Stations: Existing topographical features may require the need for a lift station(s). All lift station design shall be in compliance with applicable and current statutes of the state of Illinois, via an IEPA construction permit, and shall be approved by the village engineer. All costs for design, permitting, and construction of the lift station shall be borne by the developer. Upon final acceptance of the developer's constructed improvements, the village will assume ownership and future maintenance. (Ord., 12-27-2007)
   H.   Existing Sanitary Sewers: All new subdivisions shall connect to the existing sanitary system if existing sanitary sewers are within three hundred feet (300') of the subdivision 2 , or determination has been made by the board of trustees that an interim central sewage disposal facility is necessary pending future expansion of sanitary sewer lines. (Ord., 12-27-2007; amd. 2009 Code)
   I.   Construction: The sanitary sewers shall be installed to comply with the regulations and specifications of the state of Illinois and the village, and at the developer's expense. The developer will be required, at his/her own expense, to provide postconstruction mandrel and pressure testing prior to final inspection and acceptance of sewer improvements by the village. (Ord., 12-27-2007)
