A. Types Of Animals: For the enforcement of this chapter, each animal shall be considered as one of the following categories of animals by the animal control officer or enforcing agent:
A farm animal (as defined herein);
A domestic animal (as defined herein);
An exotic animal (as defined herein);
Only domestic animals (as defined herein) shall be recognized and qualified as comfort animals.
B. Structure Requirements/Location:
1. Any structures, kennels, pens, or runs for the keeping of animals must comply with all ordinances, titles, chapters and codes of the Village of Scales Mound.
2. Any structures, kennels, pens, or runs for the keeping of animals shall be located only within a rear yard.
3. Any kennel, pens, or runs for the keeping of animals shall be set back a minimum of twenty feet (20') from any side lot line and twenty feet (20') from any rear lot line except where a rear lot line adjoins an alley way. In such case whereas a rear lot line adjoins an alley way the minimum setback from the rear lot line shall be ten feet (10'). (Ord. 2017-003, 4-24-2017)
