SEC. 501.  GENERAL.
   See Chapter 1 of this Code and Chapter 3, Section of the Building Code. Buildings erected, altered or converted prior to July 26, 1958, shall comply with the minimum requirements as set forth in Sections 501 through 507 of this Code.

SEC. 502.  YARDS AND COURTS.
   See Chapter 1 of this Code and Section 1206 of the Building Code and the City .
   Yards, courts, vent shafts, and required unoccupied space for buildings constructed, converted or altered prior to July 26, 1958, need not be provided or increased in size if the habitable rooms and required windows opening thereon were installed under permit, or would have been permitted under the codes in effect at the time installed.
