171.01 FAILURE TO PAY FINE.
   Any person who is convicted for the violation of any City ordinance and is sentenced and adjudged to pay a fine to the City for such violation may, upon default of the payment of the fine, be committed to the City prison and kept at hard labor until the person shall have earned, at the rate of ten dollars ($10.00) per day, exclusive of Sundays, a sum equal to the fine. The imprisonment shall not be for a period exceeding the limitations provided by the laws of the State. The prisoner while working at hard labor shall be under the control of the Director of Public Service.
