(a) No person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment as a fireman in the Fire Department, unless the following requirements are satisfied:
(l) Eighteen years of age or older; and
(2) A physical examination given by a licensed physician, certifying that the applicant is free of cardiovascular and pulmonary disease, not more than 120 days prior to the date of such appointment; and
(3) Negative results on legal urine drug screen; and
(4) Meets the physical requirements necessary to perform the duties of a firefighter as established by the Civil Service Commission; and
(5) High school graduate or equivalent.
(b)
No person is eligible for an original appointment as a fireman from their thirty fifth (35th) birthday and beyond unless he or she is currently enrolled in the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund with a current Firefighter Level 2, or equivalent, and EMT certification and at least one (1) year of firefighter experience for every year beyond age thirty five (35).
(c) The appointing authority shall, prior to making any such appointment, file with the Police and Firemen's Disability and Pension Fund a copy of the report or findings of the licensed physician. The professional fee for such physical examination shall be paid by the Civil Service Commission. (Ord. 160621-33. Passed 7-19-16.)
