(a) A Structure under active construction/renovation and having a valid building and/or zoning permit(s) at the time of initial inspection shall be exempt from registration fees until the expiration of the longest running, currently active permit.
(b) A Structure which has suffered fire damage or damage caused by extreme weather conditions shall be exempt from registration fees for a period of ninety (90) days after the date of the event if the owner submits a request for exemption in writing to the Housing Officer. This request must include the name of the owner, address, contact information, and a rehabilitation or demolition plan approved by the Housing Officer.
(c) A Structure that is for sale and listed with a licensed Realtor or broker shall be exempt from registration fees for a period of twelve (12) months from the start of the vacancy, provided the owner submits proof to the Housing Officer of such listing and for sale status.
(d) A publically visible "For Sale/Lease/Rent" sign posted on the building with an accessible contact number is also an exempted from the registration fee for a period of twelve (12) months.
(e) To qualify for exemption, all taxes must be paid and current for the structure and the structure may not be in violation of the IPMC.
