(a) The Law Director may retain an Assistant Law Director on a permanent or temporary basis to assist in carrying out duties and responsibilities of the office. Such assistant shall be a qualified attorney at law duly licensed by the Supreme Court of the State and authorized by the Supreme Court to practice in any court in the State, and should be appointed by and be responsible to the Law Director.
(b) The Assistant Law Director shall assume and be responsible for such duties as may be assigned by the Law Director including but not limited to, the prosecution of cases in the Mayor’s Court or other courts, the preparation of official instruments, and attendance at such meetings as, in the discretion of the Law Director, are advisable.
(c) The Assistant Law Director shall be appointed by the Law Director as an unclassified employee of the City, subject to removal at the will of the Law Director. In no event shall the Law Director appoint an Assistant Law Director for a period exceeding that of the Law Director’s term of office.
