521.12 GAS APPLIANCES.
   (a)   A gas appliance as used in this section means any burner, heater or furnace using natural gas, L.P. gas or any similar fuel.
   (b)   No person, firm or corporation shall maintain or suffer to remain the use of any gas appliance that has been determined to be defective by the Fire Department.
   (c)   The gas supplier shall notify the Fire Department of any defective gas appliances.
   (d)   The City may tag or place other devices upon such defective gas appliances and turn off or render inoperable such defective gas appliances.
   (e)   No person shall relight any defective gas appliance, remove or alter any tag or other such device until satisfactory repairs or alterations have been made. The Fire Department shall be notified within twenty-four hours after the repaired gas appliance has been relit.
   (f)   If it is necessary to turn off the gas supply meter for any reason, the meter can only be turned on again by an authorized representative of the gas supplier.
   (g)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree.
