6-1-11: AUXILIARY PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS:
   A.   Appointment:
      1.   The Village President, if he deems it advisable, may appoint special public safety officer(s), also known as auxiliary public safety officers, with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees.
      2.   Every person appointed as a special public safety officer shall have issued to him a certificate of appointment expiring on April 30 or such as designated on the certificate and, in addition thereto, a star or emblem of office.
   B.   Powers And Duties:
      1.   Persons appointed special public safety officers shall possess the powers designated by the President and Board of Trustees.
      2.   Nothing herein contained shall be construed to give special public safety officers the right to carry weapons except when they are so assigned by the Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Support Services.
      3.   The Corporate Authorities of the Village do hereby ratify, confirm and direct that auxiliary public safety officers employed by the Village are not to exercise any powers that they would have as conservators of the peace, except as otherwise provided by law.
      4.   Special public safety officers shall be subject to all the provisions of this Code and all rules and regulations for regular public safety officers.

      3.   The Corporate Authorities of the Village do hereby ratify, confirm and direct that auxiliary public safety officers employed by the Village are not to exercise any powers that they would have as conservators of the peace which they would not otherwise have if they were not conservators of the peace.

      4.   Special public safety officers shall be subject to all the provisions of this Code and all rules and regulations for regular public safety officers.

   C.   Medical And Hospitalization Benefits: Those auxiliary public safety officers who hold the rank of lieutenant or captain and who also have been employed in an administrative office position with the Bureau of Support Services of the Public Safety Department for a period of not less than six (6) continuous years shall be entitled to receive the same medical and hospitalization benefits as regular full-time Village employees and shall be entitled to participate in the health insurance programs established by the Village for regular full-time Village employees on the same terms and conditions as regular full-time Village employees; provided, that such auxiliary public safety officers are regularly assigned to work not less than eight (8) hours on five (5) days during each week except for vacation periods, holidays and sick days.

   D.   Service Charges:
      1.   Private Entities: The rates to be charged for Village provided auxiliary services to private entities including, but not necessarily limited to, hotels, motels, the AMC Rosemont 18 and the Fashion Outlets of Chicago (FOC) shall be as follows:
