A. Whenever a public safety officer of the Village resigns and then is later re-employed by the Village as a public safety officer, such a public safety officer shall, for the purposes of determining his salary and vacation entitlement after re-employment, receive credit for his or her prior years of service as a Village public safety officer.
B. Except as set forth in this section, a public safety officer who resigns and then is later re-employed by the Village shall not be entitled to receive any benefits or other consideration based on the time he served as a Village public safety officer prior to his resignation and re-employment without the prior written approval of the Superintendent of Public Safety.

C. This section does not require the Village to re-employ as a public safety officer any public safety officer who resigns his position nor does it entitle any former public safety officer of the Village to any special priority should such a public safety officer seek re-employment with the Village.
