No operator of a truck shall follow another truck more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicle and the traffic upon and condition of the highway. Except when the truck ahead is stopped by a traffic control signal or by a police officer, it shall be prima-facie unlawful for any operator of a truck to operate the same so that there is less than 300 feet between it and any truck ahead.
