A. Section 626 of the cable act (47 USC section 546), as amended from time to time, or any successor provision, shall govern the procedures and standards for renewal of any franchise awarded pursuant to this section 3-1-10.
B. The village board may amend this section 3-1-10 or a grantee's franchise agreement whenever necessary to allow grantee to take advantage of any developments in the field of transmission of communication signals which will afford it an opportunity to more effectively, efficiently or economically serve its customers; provided however that this subsection shall not be construed to require the village to make any such amendment; provided further that, except as consistent with applicable law and regulation, no amendment to this section 3-1-10 shall supersede any provision of a franchise agreement during the then unexpired term of such franchise agreement.
