3-1-10-1: TITLE; PURPOSES:
This section 3-1-10 shall be known and cited as the RIVERWOODS CABLE SYSTEM ORDINANCE. References in this section to "this ordinance" shall be interpreted as referring to this section 3-1-10. The purposes of this section 3-1-10 are to:
   A.   Regulate the franchising and operation of a cable system by a grantee.
   B.   Protect the public health, safety and welfare.
   C.   Provide for the granting of one or more franchises to permit the use of village streets and other public ways for cable systems.
   D.   Provide for the regulation by the village of the erection, construction, reconstruction, installation, operation, maintenance, dismantling, testing, repair and use of cable systems in, upon, along, across, above, over and under or in any manner connected with the streets or other public ways within the village, as it now or in the future may exist.
   E.   Provide for the payment of fees and other valuable considerations to the village for the use of village streets and other public ways by such systems as well as to compensate the village for costs associated with such use.
   F.   Provide for the development, operation and maintenance of cable systems to serve the present and future needs of the citizens, government and private and public institutions, organizations and enterprises of the village and surrounding communities.
   G.   Provide remedies and prescribe penalties for violations of this section 3-1-10. (Ord. 09-4-5, 4-7-2009)
