§ 73.02 OPERATIONS AND LIMITATIONS.
   (A)   Motorized carts may only be operated within the corporate limits of Rising Sun by:
      (1)   An individual that holds a valid driver's license; or
      (2)   An individual that is at least 16 years and 180 days of age and holds either:
         (a)   An identification card issued under I.C. § 9-24-16; or
         (b)   A photo exempt identification card issued under I.C. § 9-24-16.5.
   (B)   No person shall be permitted to operate a motorized cart on any public street within the corporate limits of the city unless authorized to do so under § 73.02(A)(1) or § 73.02(A)(2) of this chapter.
   (C)   No person whose driving privileges are suspended for the commission of a crime (including operating while intoxicated) shall be permitted to operate a motorized cart on any public street within the corporate limits of the city.
   (D)    A person may not register a motorized cart or operate a motorized cart on a public highway in Rising Sun if financial responsibility is not in effect with respect to the motorized cart in accordance with § 73.05.
   (E)   All operators of motorized carts shall abide by all traffic regulations applicable to vehicular traffic.
   (F)   Motorized carts shall not be operated on sidewalks or in city parks other than in parking areas or recognized vehicle traffic areas.
   (G)   Motorized carts shall be operated only if such carts are equipped with functional headlights, taillights, windshield, and a brake light.
   (H)   Motorized carts may not traverse streets and highways under the jurisdiction of the Indiana Department of Transportation. Motorized carts may cross these streets to access other streets at street intersections only. The specific streets and highways referenced include North High Street (SR 56), South Walnut Street (SR 56), Street and West Main Street (SR 262) throughout the corporate limits of the city. Crossings must be made at a right angle.
