(a) An authorized supervisor may require an employee to work hours exceeding prescribed working hours or, when deemed necessary, on holidays. Overtime pay shall be paid for all hours worked by an employee in excess of forty hours per scheduled workweek at the rate of one and one-half times the employee's regular rate of pay. Sick leave, personal leave, vacation and holidays shall count towards hours worked within the current forty hour workweek.

(b) In addition to compensation at the employee's regular rate of pay for each holiday, holiday pay at the rate of one and one-half times the employee's regular rate of pay shall be paid for all hours actually worked by the employee when the employee is called out to address an emergency. An employee, other than a police officer who is compensated in accordance with Section 149.07 which follows, shall be paid at two and one-half times his or her regular rate of pay for scheduled hours worked on a holiday, and shall receive no further compensation.

(c) When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the succeeding Monday shall be treated and observed as the holiday. Holiday pay shall be paid for any holiday which falls on a Saturday during which an employee actually works. No pay, additional leave or other compensation shall be paid or awarded to an employee for a holiday which falls on a Saturday during which the employee does not work, unless the preceding Friday is declared a holiday for all state employees. An employee shall receive holiday pay for the hours worked on the Saturday following a Friday which has been so declared a holiday. In no event shall a holiday be counted as a day of vacation when the holiday falls within an employee's scheduled vacation.
