Notwithstanding the limitations and in addition to the benefits provided for in preceding section, when a legal holiday falls on a City police officer's regularly scheduled day off, the police officer shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times the officer's regular rate of pay for that day, or, in lieu of such payment, the police officer shall be allowed equal time off, with no reduction in the officer's pay at such time as may be approved by the Chief of Police.
