(a) Every swimming pool hereafter constructed, installed, altered, maintained, removed or demolished shall comply with this chapter. Existing private residential swimming pools may be continued without change, provided that the requirements of Sections 1468.08 through 1468.12 are observed.

(b) Compliance with this chapter does not alter or limit the common-law or statutory liability of any person.
