1511.10 ESTABLISHMENT OF FIRE LANES ON PRIVATE PROPERTY, DEVOTED TO PUBLIC USE.
   The fire lanes referred to in the Ohio Fire Code shall be established by the Director of Public Safety as follows:
   (a)   Parking Control Signs. Parking control signs for established fire lanes shall be white with red letters and borders and shall measure twelve inches wide by eighteen inches high with a minimum of two inch letters.
   (b)   Placement of Parking Control Signs. Parking control signs shall be mounted not less than seven feet nor more than ten feet above the surface of the pavement and with no part of the sign less than two feet back from the face of the curb. Signs shall be posted at the beginning and end of the area affected and at intervals not exceeding 200 feet between the beginning and end of the area. Signs shall be set at an angle of not less than thirty degrees nor more than forty-five degrees with a line parallel to the flow of traffic so as to be visible to approaching traffic from either direction. The Director of Public Safety may in certain instances require parking control signs painted on the pavement in the designated area.
   (c)   Curb Markings. Curb markings in the established fire lanes shall be used to show parking is prohibited at all times. The curb marking shall be of a solid yellow color covering the face and top of the curb. In areas where there is no existing curb, a fire lane will be established by marking the boundary with solid yellow using a four-inch minimum width stripe.
   (d)   Width of Fire Lane. The width of any designated fire lane established under this section shall be a minimum of twenty feet.
   (e)   Responsibility for Posting and Marking of Fire Lanes. It shall be the responsibility of the property owner to post and mark established fire lanes in accordance with the provisions of subsections (a), (b) and (c) hereof within fifteen days after being notified by registered mail.
