A. The City of Reading is committed to selecting the best available applicant for the position in compliance with our Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity Programs.
B. All full-time exempt (nonunion) positions shall be filled as follows:
(1) A notice of vacancy form shall be posted for a period of seven calendar days at all work sites. This posting shall include:
(a) Department.
(b) Classification.
(c) Salary.
(d) Availability.
(e) Description of responsibilities and requirements.
(f) Statement of applicant procedure and deadline date.
(2) Applications will be reviewed and the most qualified applicant(s) will be interviewed by the Human Resources Director or his/her designee and an appropriate department representative. Not all candidates will be interviewed.
(3) An offer may be made to the most qualified applicant and, if accepted, such transfer will be effective on a mutually agreeable date with the affected department director(s).
(4) When required by federal mandates, or should this process fail to produce a viable candidate, the Human Resources Department shall activate recruitment methods in accordance with § 70-302 of this chapter.
(5) The Human Resources Director shall notify all applicants in writing regarding their applicant status.
